Paper Craft #3: Top five most eccentric business cards
By Leo Kent

Why opt for a standard business card when you can have something more?

“Look at that subtle off-white colouring, the tasteful thickness of it…Oh my God, it even has a watermark.” These are the words of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho on seeing a better business card than his. But you don’t have to be a mass murderer to appreciate a good quality business card. As the market place becomes ever more competitive designers are coming up with increasingly eccentric ones to help their business stand out from the crowd.

Here are the top 5 kookiest cards out there:

No.1: Grassroots:

Designed by creative agency Struck Axiom and art director Brandon Knowlden, this business card for Lush Lawn is a packet of grass seeds. The text was letter pressed by hand.

No.2: Business growth:

Following in the same vein, this cute little fellow by London-based designer, Jamie Wieck, also comes with seeds that, when watered, sprout into water cress.

No.3: Cut to the chase:

This is a ballsy card from Canadian advertising agency John St.  I wouldn’t think it advisable to have the same lawyer representing both parties though! If you like this then you might like the equally cynical condom packet/business card made for a divorce lawyer firm. The condoms were placed on the front desk of an out of town motel – the most likely place to get relevant customers.

No. 4: Two for one:

Surely this card is undermining its own business: who needs to go to a stylist when you can comb your hair with a bit of flimsy card?

No.5: Work Out:

This last one is not technically a card but it simply has to go in.  You are only worthy of this personal trainer if you are strong enough to stretch the rubber and reveal his details.
